Afternoon high tea

Photo from examiner.com

So, as a belated birthday gift Mr. Incredible surprised me with an afternoon high tea at the Brown Palace. It was awesome, I felt like Annie at Daddy Warbucks mansion with the servers uniforms looking like 19th century maids and the real silver. Ahhh... memories, all those many musically- filled hours at the mortuary watching Annie! ...Yes... I said mortuary, my grandparents lived in an apartment attached to one and I went there after school alot. With many siblings at home-- I liked feeling in charge of the remote and my grandparents granted me that rare opportunity...they gladly forbore my singing and dancing in front of the tv as well as encouraged it, while my sibling run from it.

One cannot beat the experience of having an accomplished pianist play happy birthday on the grand piano and many people whom I don't know, sing out of tune...all for me! It is what dreams are made of! The vanilla roobios tea and the white chocolate Mandarin Orange scones were divine! Ahh, Mr. Incredible made a wonderful choice!

Car troubles

Car trouble tammola

"Are you joking with me?" I said to Mr. Incredible apparently while he was driving home late lat night the check engine light went on again after we already repaired the brakes and got the works done on it, and revisited Meineke for that very reason just two days before. So naturally, I assume its a conspiracy against me by Meineke in order to get more money and make it so I'm stuck at home on our last days of vacation .

Come to find out, from a nice Italian mechanic named Mario, that was not the case the air sensor was truly broken.. I-70 would have had been more polluted if we went on our trip.  Paliasade will have to wait... Sadden by the fact that we won't run in the Peach fest 5 miler or little C won't get to show off her peach and bees apparel from Gymboree and be at grandmas house with our shirts covered in peach juice on Saturday.  Thankfully our family will be there when we visit next time even if the peaches are not!

So the newly altered plan is going to the Denver Nature and science museum or DAM, indoor swimming pool today. I found the coolest swim classes in the area, teaching one on one child survival swimming techniques. Watch that video on the page it's awesome... the price not so much, but the fact that they learn to survive in water and not drown priceless. I want to start them in the fall or winter! Waterworld adventure tomorrow (with the already bought tickets)...kid free for a few hours. Yay! There are moments of joy in what was first viewed as a disaster! I love life!

Alone with children survival 101

Mr. Incredible again went off as a weekend warrior for 2 weeks training to defend our country. Leaving me with Peanut and little C. Clingy Peanut became.... and surprisingly jealous of little C.   Here are my survival skills that I used.

1. Take naps when the kids are napping. It was rare when they napped at the same time...but when they did-it was divine and so did I.

2. Time outs are beautiful, at least for Peanut. Spanking was not effective due to the huge cloth diaper he would just giggle at me.Time out were a threat to his freedom and he hated that idea.

3. Peanut is a runner, so when going out harnesses in the shape of a monkey are a delight.Even if it looked like i was dragging him through the water park it worked, preventing him from being drown. So it prevented him from being squashed by a car Peanut.

4. Meet up with friends often that enjoy your kids (even if they are running wild because they don't understand why Daddy left or when he's getting back). Thank you my lifesaving friends and family! I'm so grateful and indebted to your kindness in overlooking our wildness and being willing to hang out with us.

5. Talk to friends.... taking a break from munchkin language and loneliness is necessary. So many days blended together because I had no break from the kiddos. Talking to my friends was that  welcomed break and desperately needed.

6. Enjoy the time, for me I realize when I'm bored I clean and organize a lot. I only discovered that! Mr. Incredible probably hopes that I would do that more often, because I deep clean everything I can get my hands on.

7. Don't run yourself too thin! The park will always be there, the pool party can wait....don't force your kiddos to be on a schedule when they are cranky. I took them both to a Spanish class for Peanut and he became bored to whining and started to act up. We left the class hoping that yoga and swim class will produce different results in the future.

When Mr. Incredible came home I felt I could breath, take a shower and an added bonus sleep in!  Glad you are back!

Timing is everything

           The Persistence of Memory

Cry, wail...cry is what I woke up at 4 this morning from Peanut sitting on his bed, he was accompanied by a beep, beep, beep coming from the kitchen upstairs.Well, it turns out it was me who set the timer, I cleaned behind the oven and  resetting the clock instead I reset the timer to go off  9 hours and 20 minutes later on accident.
