Living here in Colorado and realizing that with a newborn there is no easy way to travel outside of the US for sometime. My wanderlust is onset, it's like a disease. So I figured I would quinch my thrist in country. Within short distances. I have been researching some fun things to do here and in the USA I learned of some unusual festivals here that I want to go to at least once.
The first one being the Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland CO, yes I know it sounds odd but a winter feastival is always fun especially when it's in celebration of a grandpa frozen in ice awaiting for reaniamination. The parade of hereas is a bonus and the tour of the shed sounds hileriously funny to see. I'm sad I missed it this year.
Fruita CO has it's Mike the headless chicken Fest, the town of Fruita celebrates a chicken that has survived years without a head. Weird doesn't even describe it. I think the reason the city of Fruita made it up to compete with Palisade. The Peach Festival is well own and loved by all. Fruita has a chicken that has survived being headless therefore they using it to make a buck. The festives include a chicken dance, contests. Sounds like a no brainer.
Another feastival for all you environmentalists is the Beetle Feastival to raise awareness of how a particular beetle is damaging the woods up in the mountains. They have a beetle stomp where no beetles get damaged in the 4K run yet the runners can dress up in costumes. I think of the Santa 10K in Vegas and I'm looking for the Elvis one.
